When we first met actor Lili Reinhart in the pilot episode of the CW's Riverdale, her blonde hair was tied back in a perky ponytail, just like the comic-book version of her iconic character Betty Cooper. Though a lot changed for Betty during the series' seven seasons, one thing never did: that blonde hair! ("Dark Betty," as she was referred to when she wore a black bob wig, doesn't count.) After all, Betty Cooper is canonically blonde, and Reinhart has also been pretty faithful to her golden hair… until now, anyway.
Reinhart is a blonde no more, as she revealed in a cute Instagram post announcing her latest role. She'll be playing Olive Smith, a biologist, in the film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's extremely popular book The Love Hypothesis, and that means Reinhart had to ditch the blonde for awhile. Olive is brunette on the book cover, and Reinhart's hair is now the same shade: a light brunette color with a warm tone, somewhere between caramel and bronde. In her selfie, where she holds the book aloft so we can see the resemblance, she wears it styled just like Olive's, pulled back in a loose knot. Reinhart is also wearing what definitely looks to be a white lab coat, as well as a simple, shiny soap nail manicure.

Fans were pumped about Reinhart's casting. (She'll also executive produce the movie.) Her Riverdale costar Madelaine Petsch commented, “ahhhh i loved this book im so excited [sic]." Camila Mendes, a.k.a. Veronica Lodge, wrote, “that’s my girllll [sic].”
Reinhart has experimented with different blonde tones in the past, including brighter shades befitting Betty Cooper and darker, more lived-in looks that veer more ash that platinum. As much as we love the blonde, it's fun seeing her experiment with something new, and we can't wait to see her take on the role of Olive in what this much-anticipated adaptation.
